Ingredients
  1. 4 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  2. 1 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
  3. 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  4. Store bought pie crust (for 2 crust pie)
  5. 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
  1. Prepare your pie crust. Mine said to prick bottom with a fork and bake for 12 minutes at 400 degrees. Heat cherries in medium pan over medium heat. Let cherries lose most of their juice, 5 minutes. Meanwhile in a small bowl mix sugar and cornstarch together. Pour into cherries and cook covered until thickened, 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Pour cooled cherry mixture into pie crust. Dot with butter. Moisten edge of bottom crust. Place top crust on, cutting off excess dough, and fluting edges. make slit in top to let steam escape and sprinkle with tablespoon sugar. Bake at 375 for 50 minutes.
