Located around an hour from downtown Charleston in Berkeley County lies a gorgeous monastery on the banks of the Cooper River.
If looking for a peaceful/spiritual day retreat, Mepkin Abbey is worth a visit to stroll the graveyards, gardens and gift shop. If you’re a Mushroom-lover like me, be sure and pick up a bag at the gift shop- Mepkin is known for them. If you wish to also see the church, be sure and be there at either 11:30 a.m. or 3 p.m. any day Tuesday-Saturday, which is when $5 tours take place.
