Ingredients
  1. 1 stick butter + 4 tablespoons, room temp
  2. 4 apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4 inch wedges
  3. 1/3 cup molasses
  4. 1/3 cup honey
  5. 1 cup buttermilk
  6. 1/2 cup sugar
  7. 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  8. 1 egg
  9. 2 1/4 cup flour
  10. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  11. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  12. 1 teaspoon ginger
  13. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pam a 10 inch cake pan. Melt 4 tablespoons butter and dark brown sugar in a small saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into pan. Make circles of overlapping apple slices, covering gaps. In a large bowl, blend stick of butter with sugar using a mixture until fluffy. Add egg, molasses, honey and buttermilk. In a separate large bowl mix together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, and cinnamon. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients, slowly until all incorporated. Pour batter into pan and bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for at least 10 minutes before turning over onto large plate. Can be served warm or cooled!
