Ever wish you were Rachel McAdams in The Notebook- being whisked away by Ryan Gosling on a romantic canoe ride amidst a glistening pond of white swans? No? Just me? If you head to Charleston’s Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner you can live out this fantasy with a scenic paddleboat adventure through the very spot this scene was filmed.
Or if you’re single like me you can head here with your Dad who is in town visiting and wanting to do something fun for the afternoon.
$10 admission gets you entrance into Cypress Gardens, which in addition to its $5 guided Swamp Boat Adventure (or free if you wish to paddle your own boat), also offers a Butterfly House, walking trails and an aquarium/reptile center.
Go here for the paddleboat ride though, as it was just as cool as the pictures look- with mirroring reflections of the tall cypress trees glimmering on the dark water, lilly pads galore and tons of alligators, turtles and crazy looking birds.
